July 1st marked the opening day of our community Facebook group. It is open to all community members and is a place to discuss everything related to Christian Classical homeschooling. Sometimes we may even read and discuss something related to CCE. In order to join you need to do two things:
1. If you haven’t already, join our free community by entering your name and email address in the green bar at the top of this page
2. Follow this link Expanding Wisdom Facebook Group and click the join group button on the right. I will approve your membership right away! Then you will have full access and you can introduce your self to the group and welcome other members!

Lastly I realized I have not really introduced my family to you all. πŸ™ What is up with that? So here is my ohana:

My husband Ernie, also known as Big Dog, he is my renaissance man. He can cook, juggle, code/develop websites, paint, draw, and make up a silly song on the drop of a dime, someday I am going to record all those songs and make a video for the kids. I couldn’t believe it when he agreed to us homeschooling the kids. I love this man and am glad God chose him for me to spend the rest of my life with. We have walked through the refiners fire together and are still together! πŸ™‚ Good stuff.

The Jo Man

Josiah, my oldest dude, also known as Bubbie or The Jo Man. He is a rising 7th grader, loves basketball, skateboarding, snowboarding, Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Minecraft, and Basketball. Josiah is over 6 feet tall and growing, the projection is somewhere between 6’4″ and 6’7″! I am already looking up to
him. He LOVES debate and discussion and wants to play ball in college. I am hoping to find him a great liberal arts college with a good basketball program. Any ideas?

Music & Math?

Sierra is my oldest daughter, also known as Sissy or Drill Bit. πŸ™‚ She is my rising 4th grader and is girl after my own heart. She has been known to pull out Plutarch on her own and read it. Β She loves music, singing, and acting. She loves writing songs and stories and recently attempted to join the yahoo forums to answer questions about how to become famous. *laughing with delight* I am glad I caught that before she hit post. πŸ™‚

Katie & her Best friend

Kathleen, is my youngest, also known as Katie Pie or Mamacita. She starts first grade next year and wants to do everything just like her older brother and sister. She has taken a particular interest in crafts and “scrap-booking”. I am curious to see which of her skills begin to come to the surface. One skill she already has is to completely enchant my husband and I and her grandma and her brother and almost anyone with her dreamy eyes and smile.

These kiddos make life a roller coaster. I love them and learn so much from them. I have been homeschooling them for 5 years and we recently turned our garage into a schoolroom/art studio, complete with piecemeal carpet my hubby and I laid down and taped together with duct tape -FYI, never hire us to lay carpet,- a clothespin/bed sheet fort and messes left our my sweetly distracted children. This is a candid picture friends. πŸ™‚ #reallife
Recent Projects at the Dow House
Β
My most recent completed project and my favorite place to work and write is at my piano desk. It reminds me that education is about harmony and making something beautiful from the messed-up and broken. Here are a few snaps shot of the project.
What the Lord is teaching me right now
The Lord is showing be what it means to live above reproach and how every problem or trouble I face can be solved through renewing my mind. Tough and worth it lessons.
Thank you all again for a great first month. I am looking forward to what is to come.
Expanding wisdom, extending grace,
Jen

Okay, the piano desk? That is completely awesome {as we say here in California ahem}. Love. it.

My garage is currently 112 degrees. There is no way I’m turning it into a school room. I might die. πŸ˜‰
