Socratic Lessons from the Inferno

Today’s Socratic Lesson is the first literature inspired lesson. As many of you know, we are reading Dante’s Inferno with the Expanding Wisdom reading group. I was so excited to come across a wonderful example of a Socratic lesson in Canto 11. The video below walks through the whole Canto and the progression of the lesson between Dante and Virgil.

Feel free to continue the discussion in the comments section. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and questions.

Jen, I just finally watched this, as I am trying to “close the book” on The Inferno (for now). I had written down notes as you explained this during one of our discussions, but this video really helped to clarify things, and now Canto 11 is packed with marginalia. Haha! Thanks!
