Hi Abela,
Thank you for reaching out. The best way to start commonplacing is to simply find the quote from a book that you are reading. Try to find metaphors and similes. Also, when you find a quote that resonates with you, ask yourself, what common human experience do you see embodied in that quote or passage. Common-human experiences are things we all experience, even if the particulars of the situation are different. Things like forgiveness, love, home, etc. If you have trouble seeing the common human experience in a quote, then first look for them in the scene, then a longer passage, and then smaller quotes. Let me know if that helps and if you have any follow-up questions. -
Unfourtunately they are not online anymore. We are however in process of creating some guides to help with commonplacing. If you sign up for our mailing list you will be notified when they release.
-
Thank you! I am planning a follow-up article about commonplacing! I have learned so much since then. Make sure to sign-up on our mailing list and/or Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/paideiafellowship/) so you are notified when it goes live. Do you have any specific questions about commonplacing you would like to see answered?
-
Ok! Thank you for the question! Make sure to follow Paideia Fellowship on Facebook and through our email list to be notified when the new post goes live! Happy New Year.

Are there spots available for your humanity class extremely interested. Beside a computer any other software I need. Thank you Karla
-
Thank you for reaching out. Yes, there are spots available. As long as the course is showing up in the shop area, there are spaces available. Other than a computer, you will need to download Zoom, which is a free video conferencing plugin. A link to download this is in the welcome email. I did just adjust the dates for this course. We are now beginning on January 18th to allow a little more space between the holidays and the start of the course. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

I am glad it was helpful! Also, great question. My personal practice is to continue memorizing facts as an ongoing thread, while also continuing to introduce new concepts. I find it helpful to put the memorization goals on a schedule, that way it does not fall by the wayside and your student continue to make consistent progress.

It is my pleasure! Yes, real is preferable in my opinion! 🙂

Thank you! Those are great questions. Students enroll in the whole program. All of the classes work together, especially the morning classes, which include history, literature, and composition. You can learn more about our community here: https://paideiaacademics.com/pfhc/. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi! Great question! We started out doing nature study and Shakespeare Charlotte Mason style, art focusing on the elements of art, and the Lost Tools of Writing.
-
Yes! I would recommend signing up for the interested families and the Find a Group Page on scholegroups.com. In addition, join any groups on Facebook or other forums for homeschoolers in your area and begin asking around. Often times moms are interested, but not sure where to begin. Some have found that starting a “Scholé Sisters” book club is an ideal way to begin gathering interest. Let me know if I can be of service and good luck!

Hi Lexy! Yes, we like Teaching Textbooks for hands-off math.

Hi Jennifer, I have been homeschooling for 4 years and mostly through Classical Conversations. I grew up in Italy, therefore I have been taught thoroughly classical-just to give you an idea, I started learning about Dante in elementary school. I also took Latin and 3 other modern languages in high school. I have a MA in International Studies with a minor in international economics. I believe learning never ceases.
I am reaching out since we are moving to Northern Italy in a year or sooner, and I would like to start a homeschool co-op -I think in person community works the best- while using a wide variety of the classical tools and resources – we buy from Classical Conversations, Classical Academic Press, Memoria Press, IEW, Well-Minded Press, Veritas, Sonlight, MFW, Bright Ideas Press, etc.
At this stage in life, I think I want to be even more invested in the process of building the kingdom of God in the educational realm.
My children are still fairly young (10 years old, 8 years old, and 7 years old) but promising and committed to the full knowledge of the all-encompassing God’s Truth and His love that surpasses knowledge so as to be saved.
In essence, I would appreciate if someone could reach out to me with advice and suggestions, and of course if you are in Italy or other close European countries it would be great to visit some day soon. My email address is: [email protected]. I am not on Facebook but can WhatsApp or Skype. Thanks again, God bless you!
“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, for His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.”
(2 Peter 1:2-3, NASB)
