This is a complete and scripted two-part mimetic lesson plan on how to recognize, name, and write a strong literary thesis statement using the TAG-claim-why-evidence pattern. The lesson plan includes a completed mimetic teaching dashboard, scripted lesson plan with notes on teacher disposition and things to listen for, lesson introduction for the teacher, student handout, and a ready-to-use assessment rubric. Examples (or types) are taken from ‘To Kill a Mockingbird,’ by Harper Lee. This particular lesson plan was written for a real 9th grade 80 minute English class.
